We have started learning about the Land Bridge Theory, a possible way that the very first Native Americans made it to North America. It was such a big reveal, the kids were so surprised at the answer of what the theory actually meant!
Our first three days of school have been so full of amazing things I haven't even had time to blog about it! Our first day of school was great. It was great getting to know the students and their likes and dislikes. We were able to do a scavenger hunt to learn about our classroom to help us understand expectations. We focused our first day a lot around our three school-wide rules: -respect yourself -respect others -respect property. We also learned a lot about how to choose "just right" books for ourselves. Books that we can enjoy and that aren't too easy or too hard. We also practiced what good independent readers look like. Here are a few photos of best independent reading practices! I think we have a ton of great independent readers in our class! Our classroom is really coming together! I think a couple more days of work should get it ready for students! I am so excited to fill this room with young minds. Here are some updated photos of the work I have been doing! I will add the final touches as I do them :) Here are a couple of photos of our classroom in the process of being finished! I have been working very hard to make our classroom look and feel like a fun place for everyone to learn. I think that we are going to have a great year in here! I know it looks like a bit of a mess now, but that's because I am working on organizing everything! I will keep working hard so my students know how much hard work can pay off. I'm so excited for a great year :) |
